Math Programs
Gateways' math programs begin with a detailed assessment of computation and problem-solving skills. Teachers select from a wide variety of instructional materials including hands-on manipulatives to build solid conceptual understanding and computational proficiency. Each student moves at a pace that maximizes progress and confidence.
Program elements include:
- Number Concepts—enumeration and place value
- Math Facts-to promote memorization and recall
- Basic Operations—addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
- Fractions, Decimals, and Percents—concepts, calculations, and word problem applications
- Problem Solving—strategies to understand and solve word problems
- Measurement and Geometry—from basic shapes and angle measurement, through areas and volumes
- PreAlgebra/Algebra— from simple equations to quadratics. (See also Tutorials and School Support.)
Because many students struggle to keep up with new classroom topics while filling holes in their foundation skills, many students’ programs include school support. (See also Tutorials and School Support.)
