The Gateways' Writing System© is comprehensive, enjoyable, and effective. It begins with a careful assessment of composing skill, knowledge of mechanics, and writing fluency.

Program elements include:

• Prewriting—strategies to generate and structure ideas
• Composing—opportunities to write pieces of varying length using a variety of writing forms
• Revising—techniques to clarify and develop ideas through improved word choice, sentences, and paragraphs
• Editing—instruction in mechanics, usage, and grammar through targeted lessons and within the context of the student’s writing

Students learn to approach writing tasks with confidence. Our REACH® home program encourages fluency, use of reference materials, and word processing.
